Hypothyroidism is a condition that is characterized by an underproduction of thyroid hormone in the body and is known to primarily affect woman over the age of 60. Producing too little thyroid hormone can manifest in many ways and is often overlooked because the symptoms resemble other illnesses or common problems. 1. Fatigue is a common symptom of hypothyroidism.

2. Constipation is another symptom that accompanies hypothyroidism that can be overlooked simply due to the fact that many believe it’s a result of diet.

The lack of thyroid hormone in the body can result in challenged digestive processing.

3. Memory issues.

People who have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism have reported problems remembering things. Misplacing keys, having more trouble than usual finding your car, and forgetting names can all be associated with poor memory. That being said, this isn’t necessarily worth getting alarmed by because a lot of different things can make you forgetful. Diet, medications, and being tired can all account for memory problems.

It may be more difficult to shed pounds if your thyroid isn’t functioning properly.
